I’m sorry that you thought the book was going to teach you how to write grants. I have written several books on how to write grants, as have dozens of other authors. The book’s title: “How To Become A Grant Writing Consultant” is pretty self-explanatory. The book is for two audiences: 1) People who are already writing grants for their employer in a nonprofit setting and want to hang out their consulting shingle or 2) For individuals learning to write grant applications (currently taking a college course in grantsmanship, taking local or regional certification training, etc., who plan to start their own consulting business. I had no intention of telling people how to write grants in a “How-To” business start-up book. There are no other books like mine out there for those with a will looking for a way. A good grant writer and any type of consultant is only worth their price if they can pay attention to detail–like the detail describing this book.

My interest in grant writing began when I was in graduate school. How To Become a Grant Writing Consultant is a great book for beginners. The author anticipates the kinds of questions running through one’s mind. Bev’s suggestions are helphul to a person venturing into this filed.

I must say, that I have not read the book but I have taken the on-line course “How to become a grant writer consultant.” The course is pretty much structured the way the book is (I have read some excerpts). I feel that my money was well worth the cost (under $60). As a result of this course, I have stepped out of my box and decided that I could do this. I am now proud to say that I am an Independent Grant Writer Consultant in my hometown of Houston, Texas. Its THIS step by step course that taught me what I needed to do to go about a dream and passion of mine. Keep up the excellent work Dr. Bev & continued success.

When it comes to grantwriting, Bev Browning is the best. Her skills are substantiated by her success rate. Like her other new publication, “Grantwriting for Dummies”, this book is straightforward, easy to read and lays out everything the new grantwriter needs to know in clear, concise form. The question and answer format makes it very easy to follow – and directs the reader to precisely the information needed.

In a day and age when it is hard to sort through what is the reality of any enterprise I was delighted to find Ms Brownings book. What insight she imparts to those of us who are lost in this sea of half truths and far flung promises. She is concise and to the point which is rarely seen with niche writters. Browning lives up to her reputation as a complete and affective grant writter. Her book helped me decide that I did not want to become a grant writer but If I had a grant to write I would hope that Ms Browing would either write the grant on my non profit’s behalf or at least I could use someone that has read her book and puts her concept into practice. Great, informative read. Highly recommend it.
